Victoria Duck Safari Itinerary

Come Explore Victoria on the weekend of Saturday, November 7 at the Victoria Duck Safari! Support the Victoria Symphony Orchestra and any of the other 26 participating Victoria County non-profit organizations at this inaugural fundraiser. Thousands of adopted rubber ducks will dive into the Guadalupe River at Riverside Park and race toward the finish line, and anyone can adopt a duck for a chance to win. Prizes will be awarded for the first 10 ducks to reach the finish line. If your duck wins, you could walk away with $2,500!

Morning

Get your Saturday morning started off right with coffee and breakfast in Downtown Victoria! Liberty Coffee Haus is a charming coffee shop with espresso drinks, pastries, and comfortable seating for you to relax. Local treasure Vela Farms' freshly-baked cinnamon rolls are a can't miss treat. Downtown will also be full of cool and classic rides that morning, as the monthly Cars and Coffee event returns to Vela Farms!

For everything home-grown and handmade, swing by the Victoria Farmer's Market at the Pattie Dodson Health Center. Every Saturday morning a number of local vendors feature fresh fruits and vegetables, canned goods, spices, plants, and more!

Afternoon

Riverside Park is the place to be on Saturday afternoon, November 7 for the Victoria Duck Safari! The event begins at 12 Noon and the ducks hit the water at 2 PM and finish several minutes later at Grover's Bend in in the park. Adopt a duck or group of ducks on the Victoria Duck Safari's site and see if you take home a prize! After the event, enjoy some time in Riverside Park. Over 500 acres, the park features multiple walking trails, playgrounds, a full 18-hole golf course, 21-hole disc golf course, and more. The Texas Zoo, also located in Riverside Park, is a wonderful family-friendly attraction. It's home to over 100 species of animals, with some native to Texas and other that can only be found in remote, exotic locations around the world.

Explore 13,000 years of Texas history at Museum of the Coastal Bend. It features exhibits on early peoples and explorers of the region, and you can even request to throw a spear with an atlatl at a wooly mammoth target! The kids will love Outlaw Pass Family Fun Center, featuring an outdoor go-kart track, adventure mini-golf, arcade games, and more. The Children's Discovery Museum is a great activity for little ones, with interactive exhibits that are both educational and entertaining. If you're an admirer of art, the Nave Museum and the Five Points Museum of Contemporary Art are wonderful, intimate venues showcasing amazing works.

By this time you're probably pretty hungry, and what better to fill up on than some great Texas barbecue? The Great Coastal Texas Barbecue Trail features 5 local joints with some of the state's best 'cue. Test your appetite and see how many of the spots on the trail you can hit up!

Evening

Wind down from your afternoon adventures and take a short drive on the Old Victoria Driving Tour. This self-guided trek through Victoria's downtown and historic neighborhoods features over 80 homes and buildings, many listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Brochures can be picked up at the Explore Victoria Visitor Center, or can be seen online at the Explore Victoria History Trail website.

Have dinner plans? Victoria has an impressive list of dining options to appease any palate. Enjoy delicious Mexican dishes and margaritas in a upscale-casual atmosphere at Frances Marie's Restaurant & Cantina. Looking for some live music with you meal? Burdogz Bar & Grill has a huge outdoor deck and great appetizers. For spot-on burgers and specialty drinks, Froggy's Grub & Pub is the place to be. If you're craving a juicy steak, 5D Steakhouse has got you covered. Empire Bar & Grill features a laid-back atmosphere and great comfort food. Looking for something to share?
