Think you can handle the heat? Put your taste buds—and your tolerance—to the test at the Jalapeño Eating Contest presented by Whataburger at Tejas Fest 2026!

Contestants will go head-to-head to see who can eat the most jalapeños in the allotted time. Entry is FREE, so come ready to bring the heat and compete for bragging rights as Tejas Fest’s ultimate jalapeño champion! The competition is limited to 12 participants, so sign up soon!

How It Works:

1. Sign Up: Register for the competition through the form below. All entries are FREE! Space is limited to 12 contestants. All contestants must fill out and sign the Jalapeño Eating Contest Waiver - Contestant Waiver. This will be sent separately to each contestant after the entry form below has been submitted and their participation confirmed.
2. Show Up: Arrive ready to chow down and bring your A-game.
3. Eat Up: Contestants will have 60 seconds to devour 12 jalapenos. More contest rules are listed below.

Prizes:

🥇 1st Place: FREE Whataburger for a year
🥈 2nd Place: $25 Whataburger gift card
🥉 3rd Place: $15 Whataburger gift card

Rules:

• Contestants must be at least 18 years old.
• Each contestant will receive 12 whole jalapeño peppers with the stems on a platter.
• The peppers must be eaten entirely, except for the stem, which will be left on the plate for the judges to use to verify the jalapeños were consumed.
• There should be minimal pepper left on the stem to qualify
• After 60-seconds, the contestant who has consumed the most peppers wins OR the first contestant to consume all peppers wins and should stand up to be easily identified
• Whataburger will provide each contestant with milk/water following the contest
• You will not be allowed any other foods or beverages during the contest.
• Contestants will not be allowed to have napkins or any other objects near them during the competition.
• You will be disqualified should you find yourself unable to keep the peppers down.
• You cannot coat the inside of your mouth with any kind of protective coating.Anyone caught doing so will be disqualified.
